Message from the APSI Secretariat
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The Addiction Psychiatry Society of India (APSI) is thrilled to invite you all to ADDICON 2024, the Annual National Conference of APSI to be held at Srinagar, J&K. ADDICON 2024 promises to be an exciting academic event for sharing knowledge, skills and viewpoints for all the mental health professionals.
Addictive disorders continue to be a major public health challenge everywhere in the world, especially in India. Simultaneously, the discipline of Addiction Psychiatry has been evolving continuously. Exciting new developments in almost all the aspects of addiction psychiatry require us to make efforts to keep ourselves abreast. These developments span the complete range: from the basic neurosciences and behavioural sciences to the clinical practice involving pharmacotherapy, psychosocial approaches, and novel technologies. To keep pace with these developments, the policies and programs governing delivery-systems for addiction services also need to evolve. Many challenges remain. People Who Use Drugs as well as People Who care for People Who Use Drugs (read, we the
addiction professionals) continue to be stigmatized. We require platforms like ADDICON 2024 which provide an opportunity to share our knowledge and skills with our peers and learn from the stalwarts.
ADDICON 2024 offers an unforgettable experience, a heady mix of academic discourse and opportunity for tourism in the Paradise on Earth. The rich scientific program will be carefully curated to appeal to all of us: invited lectures, symposia, workshops, free papers, and posters. For younger professionals, there will be exciting opportunities in the form of quizzes, and thesis award paper sessions.
The organizing committee – an experienced team from SKIMS, Srinagar – assures that no stone shall be left unturned in putting together a memorable academic extravaganza for all of us. Let us enjoy their hospitality.
See you at Srinagar!
